I know how to pace.
I am very good at pacing myself to stay on target. I should have posted this yesterday after my run, as my endorphins were zooming through my body and I was completely in heaven (and agonizing pain).
I try to keep my long runs around a 12:00 mile, as to not burn out and last the entire time. I am not fast, but I know how to hang on. I think being a race pacer might be in my future, as I can seem to do that well with all of my runs.
This was a good, but difficult run. I hadn’t run more than 2 miles in the past two weeks. When I ran the 7 miler over two weeks ago, I was exhausted any my ankles were terribly sore. This run was no exception.
Today my ankles are killing me, as yesterday they were worse. My arms, abs, back and everything hurt. I’ll survive. I always do. I might cut the mileage next weekend and make sure to keep running regular over the next two weeks to keep my body ready for this kind of distance.
I went out hoping for 10, but I’m happy with 8. Any further and I think my ankles would have broken off. I apparently love to torture myself. I guess it’s better if I do it, than someone else.
Did I mention, this is probably the longest I’ve run in the past 3 years?
Happy running
