Ah… Rain!

I was hoping to get out there for a 5 mile run around the Reservoir this morning, but it’s raining. Yes, I know… I’ve run in rain, sleet, snow, wind, sun, heat, etc… I’m like the mailman. Today, I wasn’t feeling it.

Tomorrow I’d like to get the 5 miles in, if I don’t today (which is unlikely). K-dot is busy, so I’ll be on my own :)

Races coming up this year…
Marathon Relay in April
Half Marathon in May

What shall I sign up for in June?

Got it in, 3 Miles

I didn’t want to run. I was tired, it was cloudy and drizzling a little bit. I had forgotten my clothes at home, instead of bringing them to work. So, I thought I was doomed. My lizard lazy brain would say "don’t run, eat candy!" and it would be all over for the night.

Well, I fought back and got out there. Does that make me a real runner? I think so. Some people are runners, some are ‘real runners’. Okay, I’m just making that up, but it makes me feel better and more motivated to not be a runner, but a real one. For real, really…

I did 3 miles. My ankles are ok. A little sore, but deal-able. I need to get the EVO barefoot shoes. Christie has convinced me. My sneakers are just too darn heavy. I want to be free again, sandal weather… here I come!

Oh, wow, in 3 weeks I’ll be in Florida :D YAY!

And for the Sweat365 founders… I’ll be coming to Seattle for a weekend in May :D

Lots of travel this year…… wow, I’m not as lame as I think I am!

Off to Mexico in a few months too :P

See, running makes me happy. Plain and simple. Now time for my 2nd happiest thing, EATING!

Here are my heavy kicks:

I know how to pace.

I am very good at pacing myself to stay on target. I should have posted this yesterday after my run, as my endorphins were zooming through my body and I was completely in heaven (and agonizing pain).

I try to keep my long runs around a 12:00 mile, as to not burn out and last the entire time. I am not fast, but I know how to hang on. I think being a race pacer might be in my future, as I can seem to do that well with all of my runs.

This was a good, but difficult run. I hadn’t run more than 2 miles in the past two weeks. When I ran the 7 miler over two weeks ago, I was exhausted any my ankles were terribly sore. This run was no exception.

Today my ankles are killing me, as yesterday they were worse. My arms, abs, back and everything hurt. I’ll survive. I always do. I might cut the mileage next weekend and make sure to keep running regular over the next two weeks to keep my body ready for this kind of distance.

I went out hoping for 10, but I’m happy with 8. Any further and I think my ankles would have broken off. I apparently love to torture myself. I guess it’s better if I do it, than someone else.

Did I mention, this is probably the longest I’ve run in the past 3 years?

Happy running :)
