8 Miles in the Pouring Rain

We started the first two miles in a mist. I thought the weather would hold out, but then the skies opened up and soaked us. K-dot and I didn’t give up. Since we were already soaked, there was no reason to stop. By mile 5, the rain was coming down so hard it stung my face… still I did not give up. The rain never stopped!

That is dedication… for me at least!

1.5 on the 8th Anyone?

I’m a little disappointed, but I knew this might happen. I went out this morning hoping to do 4 miles, but also listened to my body (especially my left knee). I started to feel some discomfort in my knee and decided to quit while I was ahead. I don’t want this knee issue to come back since last Sunday I pushed myself a little too hard and found it to be sore the next day. I want to be able to run for life and be strong.

Through strength training, I’ve been able to run pain-free and soreness free for a few weeks (short runs). I want to keep this up, so a virtual race isn’t worth it to damage my knee again. I’m proud of all those who are doing it though!

Running 8 miles isn’t going to happen for me today, but cycling 8 miles tomorrow will… so it’ll be my 8 on the 9th! Atleast I’m attempting something to get in there [even if I'm riding to the farm].

My knees still feel stronger then they ever have, but I’m going to just do my 2 mile runs this week and next to get back into shape. It’ll take time, but if I’m careful and pay more attention this time around, I won’t be sidelined for another 6 months to a year!

Run/Walk

I went to the gym. First mistake. It was a sunny day out and I had enough time to run outdoors before sunset. I opted for the gym on the way home. I wasn’t happy with that decision. The treadmill sucked and bothered my knee, what on earth was I thinking? I stared out the window as I attempted a 1 mile run. It was rather annoying, so I opted to leave and head home for yoga.

1/4 mile walk
3/4 mile run (about that)
the rest was a walk at 8.0 incline
