Track Work

800 meter warm-up jog
2×400m
2×200m
1200 meter cool-down jog
400 meter walk

Good track work with K-dot. We haven’t met up in a few weeks, but we will be keeping to our usual Sunday morning runs. My knee felt good today. I wore lighter weight shoes and didn’t push it. After a week of strengthening, it’ll feel even better!

Did you watch the Olympic Marathons? Aren’t they inspiring?!

Long distance running… I’ve missed you!

I MISS RUNNING!!!

Met up with K-dot for our usual Sunday morning run. We’re on a kick to do speedwork on Sundays instead of our regular long runs. I am enjoying the fun of it, even though at the time I hate it!

I really miss running. I’m going to make a serious effort to get my mileage back up to where it once was. I have a hard time concentrating/focusing on two things at the same time (i.e. figure competitions/lifting and/or running). I do miss running a lot and it will only increase my fitness, lower my body fat and enhance my life. As a runner I can lean myself out, which will only help in my quest for a shot at a figure competition.

I’ve always wanted to be tight and muscular. I have done well to lose weight six years ago, stay healthy and keep it off, but now I’m finally prepared with the right knowledge I need to achieve my end goal… I can do this, so many people do it every day.

Through my focus on lifting more, I have strengthened my knees to the point where I feel little or no pain at all running. If you’ve followed my journey over almost the past two years blogging about running, I struggled A LOT with left knee pain. I hope to keep up with lifting and add back running to the mix starting this week.

I’m going to sign-up for a race this fall to motivate me (just a 5 miler).

Also, the shift of focus to figure competitions has been a positive experience. I’ve finally started eating the best way I can and I’m finally feeling comfortable with it and people’s comments. I feel energized, physically tighter and more positive. I still would like to attend a figure competition in Sept as a spectator and possibly compete next April.

For now, I am going to work to include running in my plan. It will only help me at this point. It’ll be tough, but I really miss running, being a ‘runner’ and feeling great after my runs.

Speedwork:
800 jog
100m = 17.2 sec
100m = 18.5 sec
200m = 49.3 sec
200m jog
100m = 18.2 sec
200m jog

Total distance (+ a lot of walking around) = 1.25 miles
