5 Mile Run

My group of interested student runners has gone from 1, to now 3, with 2 more interested in possibly joining us. We just finished 20 laps around the school for five miles.

Someone asked me… why don’t they just join the track team? Well, they aren’t hardcore runners, they aren’t out to do best times and don’t want to be a part of the school team. They just want to enjoy running occasionally.

Maybe they are misfits or don’t feel comfortable with the larger group or maybe they just want to be all around healthy (as we also lift weights together too) without the team commitment and races.

Whatever the reason, I’m just happy they’ve decided to join me and that we can keep each other motivated toward a happier, healthier life. They are more than welcome to join track and I’ve encouraged it. It’s their choice.

Seven miles complete

I was cold, but surprisingly not tired. I skipped this run yesterday cuz my chest was hurting. Today it feels much better. I needed to stop complaining and just destress and get out there. Yoga, running, lifting and healthy eating are my focus, no more of this whining crap! That’s what happens after my mom tells me like it is, lol. My poor Chris, he always tells me to go do yoga :)

4 Miles around the school

We ran around the school, well indoors. We ran the perimeter hallways which equaled 1/4 mile each loop. We did this 16 times, for a nice 4 mile run. We did 4 laps in one direction and 4 in the other, then back around again, blah blah. I’m tired, but it was a lot of fun. Our running group grew from 2 to 3 :)

Six chilly miles

Whew, that’s the longest I’ve run in a year. I increased my mileage a little quicker than normal. This six was rough, but I’m getting myself ready for lots more! I walked about two tenth total in the last two miles.

I felt overdressed the first mile, warm the next two, sweaty the fourth and freezing the fifth and sixth miles.

I wanted to give up miles 3, 4, 5, and I could finally give up at 6! I’m not sure I was awake enough, as I was supposed to do this last night and was sleepy, too. I don’t think I ate enough to sustain this distance either. I’m happy that I finished under 12:00 per mile!
