5 Mile Run
My group of interested student runners has gone from 1, to now 3, with 2 more interested in possibly joining us. We just finished 20 laps around the school for five miles.
Someone asked me… why don’t they just join the track team? Well, they aren’t hardcore runners, they aren’t out to do best times and don’t want to be a part of the school team. They just want to enjoy running occasionally.
Maybe they are misfits or don’t feel comfortable with the larger group or maybe they just want to be all around healthy (as we also lift weights together too) without the team commitment and races.
Whatever the reason, I’m just happy they’ve decided to join me and that we can keep each other motivated toward a happier, healthier life. They are more than welcome to join track and I’ve encouraged it. It’s their choice.
