I’m a bum.

I’ve been so lazy these past few weeks. I’ve barely run what I’ve planned to over the weekends and during the week… I’ve disappeared from the exercise spotlight.

I’ve been trying to wrap my head and my schedule around preparing for a new direction in my career. Currently, I’m a technology librarian who handles the website for this public library. I’m moving on to work in a K-3 school, as a Media Specialist (i.e. the School Librarian). It’s a new path, pretty scary and far from my house. We plan to move in the next year, which we would then be closer to the school I’d be working for.

With all this change, I’ve got a lot of paperwork to do. A lot of driving to get physicals, testing and other such certifications so I can work in a school. I always forget this part of a new job… the piles of paperwork and time spent running around to gather everything needed before the start.

I’ve been MIA from the gym for far too long. Luckily, with the new position I’ll be stopping at the gym on the way home from work 3x’s a week with my Mother-in-law. She is going to join the same place I belong to (the school is closer to her home & she is the school Nurse!) and we’ll stop on the way home to workout. It’ll be a great thing, because it’ll get me to go to the gym!

Tonight… I hope I can muster up these lazy bones and get them to the gym, even if it’s for a light workout.

I’ve been seriously considering eating less, so I can run less… hahaha, not going to happen! I’m 3 months away from my next Half Marathon ~ which is a very hilly and steep course… why do I sign up for this torture? :)

C.S. yAy! ~ Moving???!!!

How awesome is this??? (localharvest.com)

Community Supported Agriculture was mentioned in a previous post as a comment and also mentioned again to me today in In Defense of Food, which I’m loving reading by the way. I’m going to discuss the idea with my husband about a local farm that supports CSA and has a 22 week plan for the year (May-Oct). We’d have to pay this week, but then in May we’ll start to get food each week. It would cost about $17-18 a week for a half-share (over 22 weeks is about $375), which would feed us both without a doubt. The full share sounds like it’ll be too much veggies and we won’t eat them fast enough. The quarter share sounds good too, but I’m not sure. That one is for people who just want some local grown food but who eat out a lot. So, maybe we’ll start with a half-share and see what happens. I’d rather buy really fresh, than just get something off a truck from 10 states away!

This would get me to try new foods, real foods, since I don’t normally buy some of the various produce they grow. AND… it would probably be cheaper than driving to the supermarket (we drive further than normal to a better one) each week to pick up fresh produce. We then could just go to the supermarket when we needed other items not offered from the farm. I love this idea!!! I hope my husband will be on board with it and I hope it all works out well, the farm isn’t too far from our house either! I feel really excited about this, like I finally found something that’ll be good for me!

Also, I never was able to find a farm near where I lived online… and this website was like a snap!

HOLY CRAP… just got a call from a library in North Carolina!!! And Chris got called today about references for teaching down there! I’ve put in so many resumes there last summer to hear nothing. Now, I just sent in one and thought they wouldn’t call… I’ve wanted to move there to get our of dirty Jersey, but now I’m not sure I can do it! They want to interview me next week… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, what’ll I do?!

i never learned
those numbers
in school
what comes next?

the words
were just fun to use

$1 million minute

it is amazing
what you can learn
nowadays
online
yet very few of us
myself included
act on it
even though
our generations before
worked hard
to get involved
and made a difference

we’re different
we sit on computers
instead of doing sit-ins
we learned a different way
to act
if we even feel aggressive enough
to do so

just makes me all feel worried
how will anything change
a country so strong
is crumbling
i used to be proud
now, no longer
what will happen to us?
how can i, one person
make a difference?

the nice woman gave me
more food for thought
she’s got to be in her 70’s
retired 10 years ago
amazing
smart
intelligent
and intriguing

to write about more than
calories in
calories out
sometimes we need to wake-up
not just to work our bodies
but to extend our minds

our country
in debt
